Part 1 Professional Communication Technologies

I have decided to take a slightly different approach to rewriting my CV and have written a personal profile to describe more of a Learning Journey and reflected on elements of my grassroots, hurdles I have overcome, why I am passionate on my topics of interest. Furthermore the term ‘Learning Journey’ is sometimes used in primary schools so thought I would utilise the term for my profile. I also plan to add more of a creative CV that reflects my knowledge, skills and creativity.

  1. Bernadette very personal but a statement that looks like it is looking at your influences and experiences to discover meaning. Understanding personal motivations can be at the heart of a learning journey, your 'lifeworld', and informs your creative CV. It sounds like you use this learning journey in the work that you do, do you use any of these narratives with students in your care? This is a public forum, why are you comfortable with this learniong journey being 'out there'?

  2. Sometimes I do use some of these narratives, experiences and influences to discover meaning to help a student become more confidence, to help them keep going, overcome hurdles that are often apart of life, find strategies to engage and access a curriculum. I also feel sharing a Learning Journey raises awareness to others, can make them feel they are not alone, can give myself confidence and help find next steps. We use a Learning Journey, next steps to move a student on and become independent learners. In this case I am the student and sharing this Learning Journey is going to help me move forward, overcome a few hurdles as I will become more comfortable with who I am. It may open talking points which would help me express and communicate more clearly, it would also help a prospective employer understand where I pull some of my ideas, where my passion and drive comes from.

  3. Hi Bernadette,

I'm looking forward to more 'meat on the bones' of your Blog. Not least what you have found out about the use of technologies and how you position yourself in relation to them in your pofessional practice.

  4. Have a little more 'meat on the bones' of my blog. The funny thing is, I have just been covering classes and teaching about dinosaurs, bones, teeth, meat, herbivores and carnivores. Not that this is my strongest subject, but I have been learning! Very Quickly! Children were researching using Google and I did start to use elements of the induction day to teach children how to research. They have also made fossils in previous lessons, dug up bones and created the texture of the skin of a T-Rex.
